Tottenham are interested in signing Hertha Berlin striker Davie Selke, according to reports in Germany.

Selke has scored just one goal in 15 Bundesliga appearances this season, providing two assists.

The 23-year-old has played fewer than 700 minutes and is believed to be keen on an exit because of a lack of starts for Hertha.

German outlet Fussball Transfers claims Mauricio Pochettino is fond of Selke despite his lack of goals and minutes.

The report suggests Pochettino would be keen for the former Germany Under-21 international to come in as back-up for Harry Kane.

Fernando Llorente and Vincent Janssen, the others strikers in the squad, are expected to leave either this month or in the summer after failing to provide an adequate number of goals.

Southampton are also said to be interested in Selke, who is probably more likely to receive first team assurances on the south coast.

Spurs are likely to move for a new striker at the end of the season but we find it difficult to imagine it will be Selke given his poor goal record.
