Arsenal are weighing up a double raid on Serie A giants Roma, while more details have emerged about the future of Maurizio Sarri, according to Wednesday’s papers.
ITALIAN JOB FOR ARSENAL
Premier League side Arsenal are targeting a double raid on Serie A giants Roma, according to reports.
The Daily Express, which cites a report from Italian outlet Calciomercato, claims that the Gunners are eyeing midfielder Steven N’Zonzi once again.
They are expected to face competition from Spurs to land the former Stoke and Sevilla star, though their chances could be significantly boosted if they lure another man to the Emirates first.
Roma director Monchi is apparently a target for Arsenal as they seek to appoint a replacement for Sven Mislintat, but he is not the only candidate for the job.
Former Gunners legend Marc Overmars – currently the director of football at Ajax – is also in the running for the job, reports claim.
If the north London side manage to appoint Monchi, their chances of landing N’Zonzi from Roma would be vastly increased.
Roma only signed the Frenchman last summer, but they could be tempted to try and recoup some of the £25m they spent on him given him inconsistent form.
The 30-year-old had found himself behind the experienced Daniele De Rossi in the pecking order, until the veteran suffered an injury.
