A knee injury has forced Umtiti to fall down the pecking order at the Nou Camp behind Gerard Pique and Clement Lenglet.

He has started 10 out of Barca’ s 32 league matches and the reigning champions are willing to flog him and invest the money elsewhere.

That is likely to be spent on Ajax sensation Mattijhs de Ligt who is considered a long-term replacement for Gerard Pique.

The Catalan side signed Umtiti two years ago from Lyon for around £25m but they still believe they can turn in a healthy profit if they sell him this summer.

It has sparked interest from a host of Premier League clubs including both Arsenal and Manchester United as they plot to bolster their back four’s this summer.

Arsenal‘s head of football relations Raul Sanllehi was instrumental in Barca signing the player in 2016 from Lyon for £21.3million.

Umtiti fuelled rumours of a move to Arsenal in January after he was spotted at the Emirates during their 2-0 win against Chelsea.

But their lack of summer funds is no secret and boss Unai Emery may be priced out of a move.

Arsenal have also been linked with a move for Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney to provide competition for Nacho Monreal and Sead Kolasinac.
