CHELSEA fans are anticipating another Frank Lampard masterclass at Old Trafford on the opening day of the season.

The Blues have been pitted against Manchester United on the first weekend of the 2019/20 Premier League season.

And with many expecting Lampard to replace Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge this summer, they will be hoping he can replicate his exploits from September.

Lampard famously knocked United and his old manager Jose Mourinho out of the League Cup.

Despite falling behind after just three minutes, a Harry Wilson free-kick and a Jack Marriot header either side of Sergio Romero’s red card put Derby in front.

Romelu Lukaku equalised in the fifth minute of injury time but Derby won the shootout 8-7 to dump Mourinho’s men out.

Sarri’s future at Stamford Bridge remains unclear and if the Italian does leave for Juventus, Chelsea could make a move to get legend Lampard in.

‘TACTICAL MASTERCLASS’

One tweeted a picture of Lampard and wrote: “Our next manager has already won at Old Trafford! Bring it on!”

Another said: “Manchester in August is always nice. Imagine Lampard doing the bounce in The Theatre of Dreams.”

A third added: “Frank Lampard tactical masterclass against Manchester United. We move.”

And a user tweeted: “So, Frank Lampard’s first game as a manager in the premier league could be against Manchester United.”

While Lampard could be on course for another clash at Old Trafford on August 11, there may well be a reunion with another club legend in December.

Chelsea host Aston Villa as part of Amazon Prime’s live fixtures at the beginning of December.

It means Villa assistant John Terry will be heading back to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea then face a tricky Christmas with trips to Tottenham and Arsenal within a week.

And the Blues will finish their campaign with a home clash with Wolves on May 17.
