JOSH KROENKE left Arsenal fans in fits of rage after releasing an open letter defending his family.
The son of billionaire owner Stan also took the time to have a chat with SunSport in Denver during the club’s pre-season tour.
While some supporters were happy just to hear something from the Kroenke family, many of his comments irked fans – and these are the five quips that did the damage…
STAY IN YOUR LANE
I understand that the fans just want us to spend money, but frankly that’s not their job. Their job is to come and cheer us on the pitch.
COULD Kronke have possibly been any more patronising?
Football fans pay good money towards their club, watching games live, buying replica shirts and so on.
While they don’t expect to have a say in running the club, they certainly won’t like being told to essentially “shut and up watch”.
Arsenal fans in particular have watched their club go from “Invincibles” to nothing more than mediocre in just 15 years.
To make matters worse, it’s not like the Gunners hierarchy have followed the lead of Manchester City, Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea and even Tottenham in spending money in order to get to the top.
Telling them to stay in their lane isn’t brave, it’s just plain daft. They have every right to be angry.
I’m over there as much as I can be, and so is my father. And when we’re not able to be there, we instil the work to be done by good people.
FOR all of his talk of being committed, Kroenke has essentially just admitted to being spread too thinly.
The Kroenkes had a host of other sporting interests – many of which are in the US.
But if they aren’t in London in person, can you blame Arsenal fans for being frustrated.
Telling them now they have “good people” on the case is hardly a silver lining…
BEER BUDGET, CHAMPAGNE TASTE
It’s no secret that we have a Champions League wage bill on a Europa League budget right now.
WELL whose fault is that?
You spend £350,000-a-week on Mesut Ozil and then use it as an excuse against the fans?
Sometimes you have to double-down – and in this instance, Arsenal would be advised to spend a little more in the transfer market.
That way they could get back to Champions League football and all the money that comes with.
But for now Arsenal are too busy low-balling Celtic with an embarrassing offer of £25m in instalments for Kieran Tierney.
DON’T EXPECT MIRACLES
While we’re not going to be in the market for some of the top players in the world at the moment, we’re actively scouting the globe to find the next big thing to become great.
AND then came the confirmation that the club would not be getting the crowbar out to prize open the old wallet.
Arsenal simply must spend if they plan to keep up with City and Liverpool, particularly.
Instead, the Gunners are now only expected to bring in youngsters with potential rather than first-team-ready stars.
Strap yourselves in for the long haul, Gooners…
MORE ARSENAL STORIES
We’ve never said anything other than we’re in this to win. Someone has made that up or misconstrued a statement.
ARSENAL fans are passionate. They love their club.
So much so in fact, they actually do listen to what the club chiefs have to say.
To essentially call their supporters liars for questioning them is just poor form.
