Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama is close to joining Belgian side Club Brugge, according to European reports.
Wanyama only featured in 13 Premier League matches for Mauricio Pochettino’s side last season, as injury disrupted his campaign, and the arrival of Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon has added further complications to the Kenyan’s situation.
Bournemouth and West Ham were two English sides to show interest, but they missed their opportunity to sign him before the deadline passed for Premier League clubs. However, the transfer window remains open in Europe – which means Wanyama can still seal his move away from Spurs.
According to Soccer Link in France – whose claims have since been backed up by several English outlets – the 28-year-old is now on the verge of a move to Club Brugge. That would mark a return to the division in which he started his career, with now-defunct Belgian side Beerschot.
It is claimed that Tottenham will earn €10m from the sale of the Kenya captain, while a further €5m will come their way as a bonus if Brugge – who finished as runners up in the Belgian top flight last season and have already signed Simon Mignolet from Liverpool this summer – qualify for the Champions League.
