Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has dismissed suggestions Manchester United are interested in signing former Tottenham striker Fernando Llorente.

Llorente left Spurs when his contract expired at the end of June, although the club never officially acknowledged his departure. That’s because there is reportedly a one-year extension offer on the table for the Spaniard, who is said to be listening to proposals from other clubs before making his final decision.

Alongside clubs in Italy, Manchester United have been mentioned as a possible suitor for Llorente, but Solskjaer denied any interest before the Red Devils’ defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday.

“We are not looking at any more signings,” Solskjaer said (via Metro) when asked about Llorente.

It is unclear whether Tottenham are genuinely keen to re-sign Llorente. Troy Parrott impressed as Harry Kane’s deputy during pre-season, which may reduce the need to bring Llorente back into the fold.

The 34-year-old struggled for most of his two years at Spurs but played a crucial role during the journey to the Champions League final last season, scoring vital goals against Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City.

His squad number, 18, has been given to new signing Giovani Lo Celso. Whether that’s relevant or not – we’ll leave up to you.
