Spurs ace could be swapped despite new contract offer – reports

Tottenham have offered Christian Eriksen a new contract, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport, but contrasting reports in Italy claim the midfielder could be used in a January swap deal for Paulo Dybala.

Eriksen was heavily linked with an exit throughout the summer transfer window but a move failed to materialise. He has just one year left on his contract and will be able to discuss pre-contract terms with foreign clubs in January.

However, Gazzetta journalist Nicolo Schira believes Eriksen has been offered a new five-year deal, though there is said to be interest from Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Juventus.

Another Italian outlet, Tuttosport, claims Spurs remain interested in Dybala, who they almost signed before the English window closed last month. To get him in January, the Londoners are apparently willing to offer Eriksen in exchange.

In truth, it’s all quite difficult to believe. Juventus will be able to sign Eriksen on a free transfer next summer, so it wouldn’t make a lot of sense for them to lose Dybala in order to sign the Dane in January, just so they can have him a few months early.
