Two Spurs players ruled out of Leicester trip – but there is good injury news

Tottenham released their weekly team news update on Thursday as usual, and there were no huge surprises.

Ryan Sessegnon is still feeling irritation in his hamstring and will miss Saturday’s trip to Leicester City, while Giovani Lo Celso is the only long-term absentee because of a hip problem.

A player who wasn’t mentioned, however, was Juan Foyth. The Argentinian is yet to play a single minute this season after suffering an ankle injury during pre-season.

And the fact he wasn’t mentioned suggests he has returned to full training and is in contention for the Leicester game.

Foyth’s return is a huge boost for Spurs, not least because it gives Mauricio Pochettino another option in a problem position: right-back.

Davinson Sanchez’s two appearances on the right have shown the Colombian is clearly not a full-back, but Foyth impressed there during pre-season despite usually playing in the middle.

If Serge Aurier and Kyle Walker-Peters are unavailable in the future, we’re far more likely to see Foyth at right-back than Sanchez, who will be able to play in his preferred position as a result of Foyth’s return.
