REAL MADRID boss Zinedine Zidane and president Florentino Perez are in a battle for the club’s next Galactico.
Zidane has “set his heart” on signing fellow Frenchman Paul Pogba from Manchester United, claim ESPN.
Perez believes he can get the Denmark playmaker on the cheap, with a possible £30million deal just six months before his Tottenham deal ends.
He thinks the club need an Eriksen type of player, rather than Pogba, who clashed with former United boss Jose Mourinho.
United want £180m for Pogba, 26, which makes the Eriksen deal even sweeter for Perez.
However, Eriksen, 27, would prefer to stay in North London and leave on a free in the summer, having missed out on a move to Madrid in the summer.
He can sign a deal with a foreign club from January – but would get a huge signing-on fee if he left it until June.
Los Blancos have got off to an awful start this season, with pressure already growing on Zidane.
They have not yet won in the Champions League, while showing indifferent form in La Liga.

The Frenchman is convinced Pogba wants a move to the Bernabeu, even though Perez has told him United chiefs do not want to sell the World Cup-winning midfielder.
Madrid could also do a deal with United or Spurs, with Gareth Bale touted as a sweetener to any deal.
The Welshman has had a fractious relationship with Zidane and a permanent transfer or even long-term loan could be beneficial to all parties.
