Harry Redknapp has singled out a number of senior players that must improve their performance – including both Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen – although the former Tottenham boss still expects his ex-side to maintain their place in the Premier League’s top-three this season despite their poor start.

Tottenham have won just three of their 11 games in all competitions this season, sit 9th in the league table, were humiliated in the Carabao Cup at League Two Colchester United and are winless in their Champions League.

A number of senior players, including Tottenham’s usually-reliable Belgian centre-back duo, Christian Eriksen, Danny Rose and a host of others are all yet to find form, but Redknapp, who led Spurs to their first ever top-four finish back in 2009/2010 is backing Mauricio Pochettino’s side to bounce back and climb the Premier League table.

“The problem they have got is those players who wanted a move are maybe not playing particularly well. Eriksen’s form has not been what it was. I think he’s a great player. There are a few of them who haven’t been playing so well,” Redknapp told the Daily Mirror.

He added: “Dele Alli, who I think is amazing, has gone bang off the boil at the moment. He needs to find his form again. They are not firing on all cylinders.

“The two centre halves as well, the two Belgian boys – they have to start performing. Danny Rose has not been in the best of form either.

Despite their awful run of results, Tottenham sit just two points adrift of the Champions League place and Redknapp excepts them to be there or there about’s come May.

“I’m sure they’ll find their form and when they do, they’ll have a run. I see them finishing third again.”
