UNDER-PRESSURE Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde has confirmed talks have taken place with club chief Josep Maria Bartomeu.

The 55-year-old has endured a horror week in the Camp Nou hotseat.

First the Catalan giants collapsed at Levante, surrendering a half-time lead by conceding three times in an eight-minute second half spell – losing 3-1 and top spot with it.

That was followed by a shocking performance in a 0-0 bore draw at home to Champions League minnows Slavia Prague.

Fans showed their displeasure by jeering and booing their team, but Valverde revealed that he had been given assurances by Bartomeu over dinner.

The ex Athletic Bilbao manager said: “I’m not worried about my future, the other day I had dinner [with Bartomeu]. I feel supported and respected.

“Whether you understand [the criticism] or not, it’s how it is. I don’t have much to say.

“If we’d scored a goal [against Slavia], everyone would be more calm. It’s how it is. You have to accept things as they come.

“A week ago, we were on the highway, we had seven wins in a row. Now, we’ll see.

“We need a win. We lost a game in six minutes [at Levante]. We need to get back on the path of taking three points because we need them and because we know what it means for this team to lose.

“We’re motivated and we know how difficult a game it will be.

“We prepared for Slavia in two training sessions because we didn’t have any more. It’s normally like that for the whole season.

“There are two game days, four to prepare for the games – that seems normal to me.”

Real Sociedad’s 1-1 home draw with Leganes last night means that Barcelona could return to the top of La Liga tonight with a home win over Celta Vigo.

They currently sit second, a point behind the Basque side, and ahead of fierce rivals Real Madrid on goal difference.

Zinedine Zidane’s side face Eibar away from home at 5:30pm.
