MANCHESTER UNITED have registered their interest in £50million-rated goalkeeper Andre Onana despite having just handing David De Gea a new £115m contract, in a shock move.
The Red Devils have joined Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain in the race for the Cameroonian stopper, with Ajax slapping a monster transfer fee on his head, according to the Mirror.
It took the club over a year to negotiate the terms of the deal, but the saga appears to have distracted him at times.
Despite shipping four goals in the goal-laden Champions League draw with Chelsea midweek, Onana is quickly making a name for himself in Europe.
He was a key cog in the Ajax machine that beat Real Madrid and Juventus en route to the semi-finals of Europe’s elite competition last term.
Spurs are hoping to bring Onana, 23, to North London in the winter transfer window after Hugo Lloris dislocated his elbow against Brighton earlier this season, ruling him out for the season.
And now United are hot on the trail of the sought-after stopper – who is under contract at Ajax until June 2022 after penning a new deal himself in March.
But earlier this week Onana revealed that while he is always eager to progress in his career, England “isn’t for everyone”.

The Cameroonian stopper said: “There’s good competition and everyone wants to play here but to play you need to get a chance.
“The Premier League is not for everybody so we will see. Now, I am with Ajax and I am happy to be the first-choice goalkeeper.
“It’s always important for me to move on. I am not going to stay here forever but now I am focused, so let’s keep it this way.”
