ARSENAL skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has not renewed his contract yet – as he is reportedly holding out for a move to Barcelona.
The Gunners opened negotiations to extend the striker’s current deal – which expires in 2021 – at the start of the season.
But it was claimed Aubameyang was holding off renewing his Emirates stay until the end of the campaign as he wanted to see if the club would qualify for the Champions League.
But according to Sport in Spain, the Gabon forward is actually eyeing a switch to La Liga champions Barca.
It is understood Aubameyang is aware of the Spanish giants’ transfer interest, and is waiting to see how serious they are.
Barca bosses are looking to identify a replacement for 32-year-old striker Luis Suarez.
Ex-Liverpool star Suarez penned a new Nou Camp deal in 2016, that keeps him at the club until 2021.
But the Uruguayan’s national team-mate Nicolas Lodeiro revealed the striker is already plotting a career swansong in the MLS.
Barca brought in forward Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid for £108million this summer, but are still searching for another striker.
The club were locked in negotiations with PSG before the start of the season to re-sign Brazilian superstar Neymar, but could not agree terms with the French champions.
Aubameyang’s team-mate Alexandre Lacazette, as well as Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, have also been linked with Barca.
