JAN VERTONGHEN is eager to discuss a new contract at Tottenham after Jose Mourinho’s appointment, according to reports.
The Belgian’s future was in doubt under Mauricio Pochettino but the 32-year-old is reportedly looking to get a deal done now the managerial change has been made.
Vertonghen’s current deal expires next summer and he will be free to talk to foreign clubs in January unless a new deal is signed.
Roma and Bayer Leverkusen have been keeping tabs on the Spurs man but Vertonghen wants to stay put, according to Sky Sports News.
However, formal discussions are yet to take place between chairman Daniel Levy and Vertonghen’s representatives.
