Vertonghen keen on new Spurs deal while Mourinho hopes to tie Alderweireld down

JAN VERTONGHEN is eager to discuss a new contract at Tottenham after Jose  Mourinho’s appointment, according to reports.

The Belgian’s future was in doubt under Mauricio Pochettino but the 32-year-old is reportedly looking to get a deal done now the managerial change has been made.

And The Special One is also said to be a big fan of Toby Alderweireld and is keen for him to sign on the dotted line as well.

Vertonghen’s current deal expires next summer and he will be free to talk to foreign clubs in January unless a new deal is signed.

Roma and Bayer Leverkusen have been keeping tabs on the Spurs man but Vertonghen wants to stay put, according to Sky Sports News.

However, formal discussions are yet to take place between chairman Daniel Levy and Vertonghen’s representatives.
