Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes has said that his dream remains to secure a move to the Premier League in the future.

The Portuguese, who was close to securing a move to Tottenham in the summer, has kicked on from last season’s impressive showing by netting 13 goals and assisting 13 others in 23 appearances this term.

Spurs have again been linked with a move for the 25-year-old, but boss Jose Mourinho has ruled out the possibility of signing him.

Speaking to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo, Fernandes was asked directly whether he would like to be coached by Mourinho in 2020.

He said: “Until they are fulfilled, dreams always remain.”

Fernandes was also quizzed on whether it is time for him to make a move to another league, having continued to impress with his goal contributions in the Portuguese top flight.

He replied: “I was of the opinion that these figures for the better. Regardless of whether it is here or somewhere else, the important thing is to continue to improve my numbers.

“For now, I am passing to improve on these figures until the end of the season, to try to make the maximum amount of goals and assists as possible so that you can do what you think to help you reach your goals.

“The desire for 2020 is to continue to be happy to do what I like best, which is to play, to be able to do it where I feel well, where I feel at home and, especially, where my family is doing well.”

Elsewhere, Mourinho has reportedly given the green light for Christian Eriksen to leave Spurs in January, but only if a €20m valuation is met.

Several clubs including Manchester United and Real Madrid have been credited with interest in Danish international Eriksen, whose contract in North London is set to expire at the end of the season.

Calciomercato claims that Inter Milan – who originally wanted to move for the player in the summer – are considering an offer in the next few weeks.

It is said that Inter are aware of agent’s fees and signing-on fees making a summer deal more expensive.
