MANCHESTER UNITED manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hailed 18-year-old Mason Greenwood as the club’s “best finisher” after his impressive strike against Watford this afternoon.

The Norwegian was quick to point out, however, that unlike Wayne Rooney at the same age, Greenwood does not yet have a fully developed adult body.

He then gushed further about Greenwood’s potential, claiming that he can become the “complete forward”.

The 46-year-old said: “He is the best finisher we have. He is only 18. Not like Wayne Rooney.

“He still has a young body. In a couple of years’ time he will almost the complete forward.”

Greenwood netted the third in United’s comfortable 3-0 victory over Watford at Old Trafford, exchanging passes with Bruno Fernandes before rifling a left-footed drive into the top corner.

Fernandes himself had given the Red Devils the lead from the penalty spot on the stroke of half-time, before Anthony Martial’s sumptuous finish made it two.

The victory saw United leapfrog Spurs into fifth place – just three points behind Chelsea in fourth.

And Solskjaer was clearly delighted with the result after the match.

He told BBC Sport: “A very good win, two good wins and two clean sheets, some goals to celebrate, now we want to kick on.

“I thought first half we started by gifting them some good opportunities and gradually we created more and more chances.

“Bruno Fernandes is quicker than he looks. Very excited by having him in.

“He has come in, given everyone a boost and wants to conduct a game. There are big games coming up now.

“The thing that matters in football is scoring goals and that is what Mason Greenwood does.”

Next up for the Red Devils is the second leg of their Europa League round of 32 clash with Club Brugge, as they take a 1-1 draw back to Old Trafford on Thursday night.

They then return to league action next weekend against Everton at Goodison Park, before an FA Cup fifth round clash with a certain Wayne Rooney the following Thursday night.
