MIKEL ARTETA has reportedly exiled Arsenal starlet Ainsley Maitland-Niles for repeatedly being late to training,
The England Under-21 wideman has been frozen out since January despite right-back Hector Bellerin‘s injury problems.
The Gunners have even switched Greece powerhouse Sokratis Papastathopoulos from centre-back to cover for Bellerin.
Maitland-Niles, 22, can play full-back, winger or central midfield and was tipped to be pushing for a regular place this season.
But now it appears he will need to regain the faith of Arteta if he hopes to match the progress made by fellow Emirates youngsters like Bukayo Saka and Eddie Nketiah.
Maitland-Niles is said to have arrived late for training several times this campaign.
And when Arteta returned to the Emirates as manager in December he made improved discipline one of his requirements.
Meanwhile, the Spaniard goes back to Manchester City on Wednesday night for the first time since leaving as assistant boss three months ago.
And Arsenal’s Germany central-defender Shkodran Mustafi faces a fitness test after returning to training, having missed Saturday’s 1-0 win over West Ham.
