China pollution reaches U.S.

China's pollution travels in large quantities to the Pacific coast of the United States, an unexpected side effect and indirect exports and industrial power in the Asian country.

According to a study reported by the prestigious PNAS , sulfuric acid produced by the burning of fossil fuels in Chinese factories is responsible for a quarter of the pollution in the western United States .

In his report to the National Academy of Sciences of the USA, the study authors noted that cities like Los Angeles had a foggy day more per year for nitrogen oxides and carbon monoxide from Chinese factories .

"We've relocated most of our manufacturers and therefore most of our pollution , but some stalks us by blowing back across the ocean ," says one of the study authors, the scientist at the University of California Irvine Steve Davis.

Between 17 and 36% of air pollutants in China in 2006 were generated by the production of goods for export, according to the study , and one fifth of them are specifically related to trade with the U.S..

A third of the greenhouse gases come from China export industries , according to the Worldwatch Institute, a U.S. environmental research.

The new study found that many harmful agents, including the carbon black , which influences climate change and is linked to cancer , emphysema and heart disease and lung cross great distances in the westerlies .

BLAME CHINA WEST

Transoceanic pollution has been a hot topic in the negotiations on climate change , in which China argues that part of their emissions should be attributed to the developed countries that claim their products.

China's neighbors , such as Japan and South Korea , have suffered in recent decades clouds of noxious gases from China, while environmental protection laws were breached for economic and industrial growth.

Air quality is a growing problem for Chinese leaders, obsessed with , anxious to extinguish the dissatisfaction of a growing urban population that questions the model of ' growth at any cost ' social stability that has poisoned much air , water and land in the country. The government has invested in several projects to combat pollution , but none has been successful yet.
