First get to see the network of filaments that holds the Cosmos

Astronomers believe they have first seen the gas network thread that holds the universe in a cosmic web, something that had been hypothesized that have now turned successful.

Until now , experts claimed , without evidence , that physical matter between galaxies are distributed in a network of filaments , known as the cosmic web .

But never before had managed to see this network . Until today. The journal Nature published the work of some researchers , using the intense radiation generated by a quasar have managed to see part of the vast network of filaments.

" This is the first time anyone has been able to capture an image of the cosmic web , showing its filamentous structure ," he told AFP the PhD in astronomy Battaia Fabrizio Arrigoni , who participated in the research observations from the Observatory Keck in Hawaii.
Some researchers detected a large bright nebula gas, extending about 2 million light years through intergalactic space.

This deep image shows the nebula (cyan) extending across 2 million light-years that was discovered around the bright quasar UM287 (at the center of the image). The energetic radiation of the quasar makes the surrounding intergalactic gas glow, revealing the morphology and physical properties of a cosmic web filament
