Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Developer Edition to be released?

You may still want to think twice as you've big news, especially if you're one of those Android fans looking for some freedom with your device. A Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Developer Edition, to be released on Verizon, has been listed right in Samsung's own device archives.

Along with all the features of the standard Galaxy Note 3 edition, the device will most likely come with its bootloader unlocked, fulfilling the dreams of developers and hackers who would like to tinker around their devices, changing software, flashing custom RAMs and so forth.

The news was spotted by XDA Forum user oneandroidnut. We still have to wait for some official confirmation from Samsung and Verizon, but considering that the news appeared on Samsung’s own website and that Samsung has previously released Developer Editions of Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 2, the leak seems to be legit. We do expect that there will be some official word from Samsung, as they did before the release of the Galaxy Note 2 Developer Edition.

No details are available regarding the release date as the listing carries only a “Coming soon” tag with it. Carriers usually wait a bit before they release developer editions after the release of standard editions. We may have to wait some weeks or even months.

There is no hint about the pricing too. Developer Editions are not usually offered at subsidized contract prizes unlike Standard Editions. You may have to shell out around $699, which is the current full retail price of Galaxy Note 3 through Verizon, while the same costs you $300 with a 2-year contract.

Also it is not clear if the release will be limited to the US, as happened in the case of previous Developer Editions from Samsung.

The news is not for normal users. But if you are into playing around with your Android device, patience will surely pay off.
