Toyota announced a hydrogen car for the USA in 2015

The Japanese automaker Toyota announced Monday the launch in 2015 of the United States "the car of the future", a clean vehicle that runs on hydrogen through a fuel cell.

The initial contract will be California (west), with an initiative to establish parallel in key areas of this state stations to refuel hydrogen, said Bob Carter, a U.S. official Toyota, during a press conference in Las Vegas on the eve of the exhibition opening high-tech International CES.

Refueling will take three to four minutes, and allow the car to travel about 480 kilometers.

Solve the challenge of hydrogen stations

Automakers have long touted the benefits of fuel cells, a means of propulsion, unlike conventional fuels emits no greenhouse gas emissions, but only water. The development of this technology, however, is hampered by high production costs and a lack of suitable stations to refuel.

Toyota has already unveiled a prototype last year at the Tokyo Motor Show.
