Windows 9: Release April 2015 for free?

Windows 9, the next operating system from Microsoft and the successor to Windows 8 to be published in April 2015.

Thus, the previously traded under the code name "Threshold" Windows release is not a normal update for the latest Windows 8.1. Microsoft wants to settle with the name Windows 9 also from previously unsuccessful Windows 8. It is even speculated that Windows will not be offered 9 free. Possible motives securing market share and the competitive situation apply. Even Apple has changed in OS X for a free update model in Linux, most variants are also available for free and Google puts in its Chromebooks, the operating system simply on it. Official statements from Microsoft, how realistic it is to give away the cash cow Windows, there is not.

The expected announcement date of April 2014, at the BUILD conference, will be just weeks after Microsoft completes a massive reorganization of itself. With this reorganization Microsoft hopes to be a more lean and efficient machine, more nimble to market changes. Windows Vista and 8 were both victims of a lethargic “too big to fail” Microsoft. This company wouldn’t cut it in a computing environment where Android, not just Mac, is a viable competitor to Windows, so it will be interesting to watch what a reorganized Microsoft does with as it crosses the threshold with this new version of Windows.
