The bookies are finally starting to take Spurs seriously and in doing so the opportunities to make a nice little profit is dwindling.

After the opening two defeats to the Manchester clubs the bookies were pricing Spurs up at very attractive odds to, but since then the prices have come tumbling down, though they were offering stupid prices just a couple of weeks ago on us beating Arsenal, did I help myself? Yes of course.

But I cannot, in all good sense, tell anyone to risk their money backing us to beat Newcastle, not because I am don’t think we will win, I do, but because there is no value to be had.

And that is what betting is all about, getting value, no point backing our team blindly in every single game, that would be financial suicide, no, what we have to do, is look for the bets that justify us sticking a few quid down.

What I have done is break down what I think will happen in this game and in doing that I have come up with what I believe is a very good bet at very good odds.

Now, I broke the game down like this

Will Spurs score?
Will Spurs score more than once? Probably
Will the goals come from our strikers? Not necessarily

OK, let me explain why came up with those answers,

Will Spurs score?

Yes, because in our last 12 games against Newcastle we have scored at least once and our overall scoring record in all games is fairly impressive, we tend to score at least once.

Will Spurs score more than once?

I said probably and the reason is that the Newcastle defence is not as good as it is being made out to be and all things being equal we should get rather a few shots on target, and we have scored more than once in four of our last five games, it is of course not certain, but the chances are that we will find the net at least twice.

Will the goals come from our strikers?

No, not necessarily, if you look at the history of our games with Newcastle it is the likes of Lennon, Bale and Modric that are getting on the score sheets, basically the wingers and midfielder tend to score more often against Newcastle than our strikers, additionally our goals can come from almost anywhere these days, just look at the stats.

OK, so taking all that on board I am left with the conclusion that we will score, we will probably score more than once and that we can look outside the strikers for a scorer at good odds.

So what does that leave us with?

For me it points to Gareth Bale and Luka Modric representing good value for at least one of them, if not both getting on the score sheet.

Their odds are very attractive and a little bet on each to score any-time in the game, not first scorer or last scorer but at any time, and you will have a bet that keeps the interest in the whole game (probably) and with a little outlay for a good chance of a profit if either score.

If both core then the profits would be even bigger
