Space agencies around the world to challenge the next asteroid to Earth

The European Space Agency (ESA) and national agencies in North America, Latin America, Asia and Africa, will create a group of experts to coordinate "global response" to the threat of asteroids passing close to Earth.

International experts meeting in Madrid in 2013 said they had no record of that in the solar system's asteroid about 600,000, of which 10,000 are classified as near-Earth or NEO, its acronym in English objects.

The new group will coordinate the technological knowledge of the various agencies, basic research and development, mitigation of impacts and asteroid deflection missions, as reported by the ESA in a statement.
