One has to feel sorry for Sebastien Bassong, he has been a decent player for us, not out of this world, but reliable and it cannot be easy to find yourself consistently out of the first team, especially when all you want to do is play.

But and it is a big but, Bassong is not a first choice because we have other players that are more effecetive than what he is, he is back up if the truth be told and that realisation appears to have finally dawned on the 25v year old.

He has made it quite clear when speaking to The People newspaper what he wants and that he thought the club would have let him go in the summer.

“I can’t lie, it was very frustrating,” Bassong said.
“I thought they would let me go, as they have a lot of cover in that position.
“I know they have to look after themselves, but I have to look after myself and my career.
“If I don’t play, I want to move, be that QPR or somewhere else. I now just want to play.”

Fair comments, though he should have kept them private and discussed all this with the board and Redknapp, but as usual, he is probably being guided by his agent.

If Bassong does go, as he probably will now, then I for one, wish him luck in the future.
