You can never say never in football, but according to Harry Redknapp the prospect of Ledley King ever representing England again is unlikely.
Fabio Cappello, the England manager, did give King a chance with a call up to the World Cup 2010 squad and in fact picked him for the opening game against the USA, but as well know that ended prematurely and the big man has not played for England since.
There is no doubting Harry’s faith in King and he was very glowing in his words for the central defender,
“he’s as good as any defender in the country. He’s a smashing boy as well ,” said Redknapp.
“But I think that (his international career) would be gone. They took that risk last year and it didn’t work out for them.”
Harry is probably spot on, it is simply too risky for England to take a chance on King again, which is a huge loss for England as King is one of the best, if not the best, defender in the Premiership.
At least it means we will not have to worry about King getting injured on England duty and the less he plays for England the better it is for us.
