Astronomers discover a 'dusty' galaxy that should not exist

An international team of astronomers discovered while searching the first objects that formed in the universe a 'dusty' galaxy that theoretically would not have to exist.

In a paper published in the journal Nature, astronomers have revealed the discovery of this galaxy, dubbed A1689-zD1, which in theory should not exist.

Despite having formed 700 million years after the Big Bang presents, according to experts, the appearance of a "more mature" galaxy, reports the journal 'National Geographic'.

Scientists say the new finding is made almost entirely of dust and this uneasy about her 'small' size, because it is something abnormal in galaxies of these dimensions.

"It's surprising because although the dust is essential for the formation of planets and other solid materials, the cosmos began dust at all. After the Big Bang, the universe consisted only of hydrogen and helium gas" says Daniel Marrone, expert in galaxy formation at the University of Arizona (USA).

"In larger galaxies with massive stars short-lived dust can accumulate quickly because giant stars explode violently as supernovae after only a few million years. In smaller galaxies, most of the dust emerges softer deaths of smaller stars living billions of years. So in the end, may be debris from supernovae, "says Darach Watson, lead author of the study.

To find the origin of this galaxy is necessary to find other similar, difficult to achieve due to their characteristics. "Right now we have no candidates," says Watson.
